Description:
Southern State Correctional Facility is a central level prison located in Springfield Vermont. The facility is the newest prison in Vermont and opened in 2003. Southern State Correctional Facility currently houses up to 370 adult males. The facility is comprised of six buildings, three of which are housing units for general population inmates. An additional housing unit is reserved for elderly inmates, and those who have chronic medical issues. Southern State Correctional Facility also has dedicated mental health units and sex offender treatment programs.
